In a compact stand-alone format with Ethernet connectivity, the latest Prodigy family of motion cards do not require host bus connections and provides the capability to download motion programs for onboard execution, off-loading, or eliminating the PC host and increasing the ability to distribute independent motion programs throughout the machine. Multiple versions of the card are on tap for one- through four-axis applications. All versions measure 16 cm x 10.7 cm and are available with horizontal connectors or optional vertical connectors for stackable configurations. In addition to support for Ethernet with UDP and TCP, the cards also support serial and CANbus protocols. Users can program a variety of motion profiles including S-curve, trapezoidal, velocity contouring, and electronic gearing. Servo loop compensation employs a 32-bit position error, PID with velocity and acceleration feed forward, integration limit, and dual bi-quad filters. Motor and feedback types are independently selectable for each axis and the cards support dc brush, brushless dc, step, and microstepping motors. The Prodigy stand-alone motion cards with downloadable programming are available now in OEM quantities starting at $575 each. PERFORMANCE MOTION DEVICES INC., Lincoln, MA. (781) 674-9860.
