Two new additions have been made to the company's miniSMD line of PolySwitch PPTC resettable fuses for over-current protection. The miniSMDM075/24 and miniSMDM260 devices offer, respectively, what's claimed as the industry's highest voltage rating and lowest resistance of any equivalent 1812 resettable fuse. Rated to 24V/40A, the miniSMDM075/24 device is suited for keyboards, mice, motherboards, monitors and select 24V IEEE-1394 peripheral designs. The device provides a hold current of 0.75A, a trip current of 1.50A and a typical resistance of 200 milliohms. At 8V/40A, the low-resistance miniSMDM260 device is targeted for ganged USB port protection, battery charger control modules, computer peripherals, motherboards, monitors and other applications. It provides a hold current of 2.6A, a trip current of 5.2A and a resistance of 50 m ohms, which is reported as being 10% lower than previously available in this device configuration. Designed for reflow installation, samples of both models are available. Pricing starts at $0.25 each/100,000.
