The MelodyWing SP advanced wireless audio solution offers uncompressed, wire-equivalent sound quality for home theater surround sound and multi-room audio broadcasting in home entertainment applications. The two boards, the SST11SC03 transmitter and the SST11SC04 receiver from SST Communications, enable wireless streaming of high-quality sound to two full-range speakers and a subwoofer.

The system is compatible with both the Sony/Philips Digital Interface (S/PDIF) and I2S. Support for factory-programmable worldwide ISM 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz (4.9- to 5.8-GHz) bands and output power permit one product design to meet the certification requirements of multiple markets. The unique Smart Channel feature lets the solution select an uncongested channel in the available ISM bands to avoid collision with other on-site wireless equipment.

Users can configure the MelodyWing SP in four solutions:
• The Single Link wireless mode allows one wireless S/PDIF or 2.1 channel I2S connection between the audio source and a 2.1 multi-channel speaker system comprised of a subwoofer and left and right speakers with a wired connection to the subwoofer.
• The Triple Link wireless mode allows three simultaneous wireless connections between the audio source and a 2.1 multi-channel speaker system comprised of a subwoofer and left- and right-channel speakers.
• The Hextuple Link wireless mode allows six simultaneous wireless connections between the audio source and a 5.1 multichannel speaker system comprised of a center speaker, a subwoofer, left and right front speakers, and left and right rear speakers.
• The Multi Link wireless mode allows multiple simultaneous wireless connections between the audio source and multiple 2.1 multichannel speaker systems located in multiple rooms.

Each board, the SST11SC03 transmitter and SST11SC04 receiver, costs $21.62 in 10,000-piece quantities. Evaluation kits are available now. For more information, go to www.sst.com.
