Single Connector Offers Multiple Mating/Voltage Configurations For LED TVs, Monitors

April 11, 2014
Molex’s IllumiMate 1.00mm- and 1.25mm-pitch wire-to-board system provides an array of mating styles, voltage ratings, circuit sizes, and locking types for today’s flat-panel LED television and PC monitors—in a single connector

Molex’s IllumiMate 1.00mm- and 1.25mm-pitch wire-to-board system provides an array of mating styles, voltage ratings, circuit sizes, and locking types for today’s flat-panel LED television and PC monitors—in a single connector. The IllumiMate 1.00mm save about 50% of space compared to the 1.25mm, and offers lower voltage options to reduce power consumption. Both incorporate positive and friction locks for secure latching and space savings with an anti-wire-tangling, as well as a middle friction lock with window for visible mating assurance. Polarization guide ribs protect pins while preventing improper mating and side-to-side movement. The 1.00mm-pitch version’s ribs are located on the housing ends; the 1.25 version has them toward the middle. Wide front solder tabs help strengthen printed-circuit-board retention. In addition, their dual-contact terminal design delivers electrical contact assurance with low insertion force.
