Transceivers Offer ±15-kV ESD Protection

Oct. 1, 2000

The MAX3080E through MAX3089E transceivers include true fail-safe receivers and provide ESD protection from ±15 kV. All receivers will output a logic-high if all transmitters on a terminated bus are disabled, eliminating the need to externally bias the bus using external components. The devices operate from a single 5V supply and feature a 1-nA shutdown mode. All devices in the series have a 1/8 unit-load input impedance that allows use of up to 256 transceivers on the bus. A variety of other features are also offered by the devices, including half- and full-duplex operation, data rates up to 10 Mb/s, slew rate limiting to reduce EMI and reflections, and receiver/driver enable. Pricing starts at $1.31 each/1, 000.
