Promising consumer-friendly PCs and advancing the concept of the digital home, the SIO1000 I/O controller addresses the growing demand for mobility and the desire to access audio, video, and data via remote control. The controller is expected to allow designers to deliver media-rich, easy-to-use connected PCs, as well as provide full-featured, infrared remote control in their notebook and desktop-PC designs with minimal effort or cost. One manner in which the controller lowers cost is by integrating a CIR transceiver, thereby eliminating the need for a separate CIR dongle.
