A high-frequency LCC socket is made to fit 0.040-in. pitch 48-pin leadless chip carrier. The SG-MLF-7039 socket is designed for an 0.563-in. x 0.563-in. x 0.081-in. package size and operates at bandwidths up to 10 GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss. It dissipates up to several watts without extra heat sinking, and can handle up to 100 watts with custom heat sink. Contact resistance is typically 20 milliohms per pin. The socket connects all pins with 10-GHz bandwidth on all connections, and is mounted using supplied hardware on the target PCB with no soldering. Its small footprint allows inductors, resistors, and decoupling capacitors to be placed very close to the device for impedance tuning. The socket body and lid are gold plated and used as RF shield from adjacent noises. The SG-MLF-7039 sockets are constructed with low-inductance elastomer contactor and have a temperature range of -35°C to +100°C. Pin self inductance is 0.15 nH and mutual inductance is 0.025 nH. Capacitance to ground is 0.01 pF, and current capacity is 2 amps per pin. Pricing for the SG-MLF-7039 is $652, with reduced pricing for quantity orders. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Burnsville, MN.
