The GBDriver RS1 Series NAND flash memory controller LSI circuit is compatible with 1.5-Gb/s SATA I and supports the latest 4-KB/page single-level cell (SLC) and multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memories. Typically, controlling NAND flash via the SATA format requires a flash controller and an SATA converter IC. The GBDriver RS1 performs both functions with a single chip in a 64-pin TQFP measuring 12 mm x 12 mm. Additionally, the device employs the same NAND flash memory control engine as the current GBDriver RA7. Other features include a total cluster number-setting function and an ATA-standard protection function that allows users to set and remove a password. Expect production quantities of the GBDriver RS1 in March. TDK USA CORP., Garden City, NY. (516) 535-2600.
