The second-generation Le79114 voice-control processor supports 64 simultaneous call-control channels and promises to enhance call processing and critical line-testing (LineCare) capabilities. It also supports all the functionality of the first-generation Le79112. The company's carrier-grade line diagnostic software runs on the processor and is reportedly the industry's most extensive line test and self-test software package, exceeding the GR844 standard. Using the processor as a standalone device, users can divide and optimize low-level call control and monitoring tasks having strict real-time requirements from DSP-intensive processing elsewhere in the system. Additionally, the VCP II is a software-programmable line interface supporting multiple country applications as well as all ac, dc, signaling, and data parameters. The Le79114 is available now in a 128-pin TQFP. ZARLINK SEMICONDUCTOR, Ottawa, Canada. (613) 592-0200.
