It highlights how real‑time, contactless AI monitoring on devices such as the infant warmer in this example can enhance clinical safety and reduce workload while running securely at the edge, without cloud dependency. Leveraging NXP’s i.MX 95 applications processor and Kinara’s Ara‑2 NPU, it delivers low‑latency video inference and advanced behavioral analysis directly on‑device, demonstrating the future of intelligent hospital environments.
The demonstrator can detect whether an infant is crying or at rest, identify unwanted objects in the bed, and recognize if the baby has rolled onto their stomach to help care teams. Using agentic AI on the edge, it logs any event and alerts clinicians, if appropriate, with all image processing occurring locally via models leveraging the NXP eIQ AI Toolkit. No images leave the device, complying with strict security and privacy standards.
