The BlueCore 01 radio and baseband IC for 2.4-GHz Bluetooth radios is implemented in CMOS technology. In conjunction with an external flash ROM containing the Bluetooth software stack, the chip is said to provide a fully compliant Bluetooth system for voice and data communication. The design is also optimized to require very few external RF components to facilitate rapid development of motherboards. The Bluetooth chip is scheduled to be embedded in battery packs for Alcatel's OneTouch 700 and 500 GSM phones.
