Designed for challenging applications such as software-defined radio, diagnostic imaging, radar, and signals intelligence, the ICS-1650 ADC board provides four 12-bit analog channels with simultaneous sampling up to 250 MHz and operates over a PCI Express x4 interface. The board pairs a Xilinx Virtex-5 user-programmable FPGA with optional digital down-conversion (DDC) functionality via a Graychip GC5016 ASIC and 16 MB of QDR II SRAM for buffering or scratchpad use. The four-lane PCI Express interface delivers a net payload data rate up to 1.25 GB/s, which, according to the company, is sufficient to allow continuous data acquisition at sample rates exceeding 200 MHz on all four channels while providing mechanical compatibility with small form factor motherboards. In terms of support, Windows and Linux development kits including API level source code and application examples and a hardware development kit containing VHDL source code, all timing constraints, and test bench and ISE projects are available.
