With a 500-nA quiescent current, stated as the industry's lowest for an LDO regulator, the 150-mA TPS780xx LDOs include a voltage select pin, giving designers the ability to switch between two voltage levels to customize and cut power consumption in half during operation. The devices require no external parts to implement dynamic voltage scaling for an eight-bit, 16-bit, or other MCU design. They remain stable with any output capacitor greater than 0.1uF and come in six-pin, 2 mm x 2 mm SON packages. Other features include a typical dropout of 250 mV at 150 mA, 3% typical accuracy over load/line/temperature, adjustable or fixed output voltages ranging from 0.8V to 5.0V, thermal shutdown, and over-current protection. Pricing is $0.75 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
