The effective testing of battery-management systems (BMS) is a critical aspect of automotive performance verification. Here, a Pickering engineer, at the company's electronica 2022 exhibit, explains how a battery simulator can simulate a low-power battery stack for the purpose of validating a BMS design.
The battery stack simulation must be fully programmable for output voltage for each cell, and the stack has to be capable of both sourcing current and sinking current.
