Measuring 1.05 by 1.3 by 0.13 in., Microhard Systems’ Pico Series P900 FHSS wireless modem fosters tight integration and design flexibility in OEM point-to-multipoint, point-to-point, and mesh network applications. The 900-MHz, 276-kbit/s modem, maintaining up to 1 W of adjustable output power, can change operating modes and network topology as needed. Robust frequency hopping combines with a sensitivity of better than ‒110 dBm. Other features include agile frequency synthesis and digital modulation. The device integrates self-healing and auto-routing mesh topologies (as well as store and forward), along with master, remote, repeater, and mesh operating modes. Dual serial ports are RS-232/-485-capable. At full capacity, power consumption is 75 mA at 3.3 V; when idle, it drops to 3.5 mA at 3.3 V. Quad filter stages deliver noise and interference rejection. Also included is 32 bit of cyclic redundancy check (CRC) plus selectable forward error correction. A separate diagnostic port handles transparent remote diagnosis and online network control. Operating temperature ranges from ‒55 to +85°C.
