The Chiplet Market Today and Where We’re Headed

Aug. 6, 2025
Objective Analysis’ Jim Handy provides insight into the growth of chiplets.

Chiplets have been utilized in production chips for almost a decade, such as AMD’s Xilinx Vertex chips, but we are just at the cusp of using chiplets on a large scale.

Jim Handy is an analyst with Objective Analysis who has covered the semiconductor market for a long time, including authoring articles for Electronic Design. His keynote presentation at this year’s Chiplet Summit (watch the video above) discusses the market’s growth and its potential in the future (see figure).

Jim’s presentation also highlights some details from their forthcoming “Will HBM Rescue the DRAM Market?” market report. Also, their report, “A Deep Look at New Memories,” is available now.

I earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Computer Science from Rutgers University. I still do a bit of programming using everything from C and C++ to Rust and Ada/SPARK. I do a bit of PHP programming for Drupal websites. I have posted a few Drupal modules.

I still get a hand on software and electronic hardware. Some of this can be found on our Kit Close-Up video series. You can also see me on many of our TechXchange Talk videos. I am interested in a range of projects from robotics to artificial intelligence.
