With the primary goal of cutting costs for instrument makers and researchers, the PCI-1670 GPIB card provides users with a PCI 2.1 interface that is compatible with IEEE 488.1 and 488.2. The card relies on two driver control modes, controller and slave, to provide the talker, listener, and controller functions essential to IEEE 488.2. Additionally, it allows for the connection of up to 15 GPIB instruments. Driver support includes Visual C++, Borland C++ Builder, LabWindows/CVI, Visual Basic, Delphi, and LabVIEW. A supplementary driver database is also available that can be used as an interactive GPIB interface for directly controlling devices without programming.
