In addition to accommodating longer data-transmission distances, the XIO2000 PCI Express-to-PCI bridge promotes seamless interfacing of legacy PCI devices to the PCI Express bus. The device provides a times-one (x1) lane upstream port connection to the PCI Express root complex, which provides support for up to six x1 PCI endpoint devices on the chip's downstream side. In essence, users are able to expand one x1 PCI Express lane to support up to six devices. The new bridge device is fully compliant to the PCI Express to PCI/PCI-X Bridge Specification, Revision 1.0, which is critical for interoperability with other PCI Express applications. The bridge comes in a 201-pin Microstar BGA package with a starting price of $14.95 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
