Database Provides Nonelectronic Parts Reliability Data

July 11, 2023
Quanterion Solutions’ Nonelectronic Parts Reliability Data (NPRD) report delivers details about crucial failure rate and more.

Check out the other 2023 IDEA Award Nominees.

How reliable are your systems? Do you know the failure rate of your subsystem or components and how that affects your system?

An often overlooked aspect of failure rates involves the nonelectronic parts within a system that get a lot of use, from bearings to latches. One place to find this information is Quanterion Solutions' Reliability Online Automated Databook System (ROADS) app (Fig. 1). The database features 28,000 components and totals nearly 1.5 million data records.

NPRD-2023 is the latest Nonelectronic Parts Reliability Data (NPRD) 2023 report that provides failure rate, mode, and mechanism data for calculating the reliability of mechanical and electromechanical components. This can be useful in electronic and nonelectronic applications.

Some of this information is available from suppliers, but locating accessible failure-rate data can be a challenge. What's needed is having in-house historical data for components, which is provided by Quanterion Solutions' reports.

ROADS offers access to the NPRD-2023 database as well as two other datasets. These include the Electronic Parts Reliability Data (EPRD) and Failure Modes/Mechanisms Distribution (FMD) datasets.
